In the foothills of the French Pyrenees, near the village of Monein, a 260 year old Bearnaise farm has been transformed into a "petit" hotel.

We are at the heart of the Bearn region and our six charming en-suite rooms and self-contained apartment make an ideal base from which to enjoy the area.

We are also a year-round Yoga centre and retreat with a number of dedicated weeks during the year.

In Winter, a forty minute drive gets you to the nearest ski station, which is also just a short walk to the Spanish border. Whitewater rafting, horseriding and many other activities can also be pursued in the neighbourhood. For those of a more leisurely disposition, Candeloup is at the heart of the Jurancon wine region, which begs to be explored.

Candeloup is as "green" as we can make it. Our "air source" climate control systems were supplied by France Geothermie.

Hot water is produced with solar panels supplied by Sonnenkraft.
(Cloudy day "backup" is provided by our "Aerothermic" system.)

Our "waste" systems which are unique in this part of France, and were installed after much design work with the local water authorities, use a combination of very advanced fosse septiques and peat filters developed in Canada.

Our kitchen gardens, which provide much of our vegetables, are watered from our 3000 litre rainwater tanks and our own well.

The nearest city is Pau - the "capital" of the Pyrenees-Atlantique department, and is 25 minutes drive. Nearest airports are Pau, Biarritz, Lourdes, Bordeaux and Toulouse. Nearest TGV rail station is Pau (a five hour train ride from Paris). Nearest ferry ports serving the UK are Bilbao and Santander in Northern Spain - 2-3 hours drive away.
