Welcome to the undiscovered Cantal department in the Auvergne region of central France. Set in the Parc Natural Regional des Volcans, La Fromental is a restored Cantal farmhouse built in about 1850, set in seven acres of sylvan scenery with views of the Puy de Sancy, the highest peak of the Massif Central.

We offer bed and breakfast or chambres d’hôtes on a daily basis and evening meals can be provided if requested for an extra charge. We have four rooms all with private bathrooms and double beds; one room is a family suite with a separate room with two single beds for children. |

Your breakfast will be served in the dining room or on the garden and will be bread and croissants fresh from our local baker in the village, jams & honey, fruit juice, cereals, boiled eggs and a choice of coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Occasionally Amelia will substitute the croissants for freshly home baked muffins with seasonal fruits. |

Attractions Those taking their holidays here will find limitless opportunities for exploring off the beaten track, and for searching out tranquil villages and hidden beauty spots along roads that emerge above the clouds one minute and plunge into a deep gorge the next.
Walking routes abound through the variegated woodland where one can see so much flora and fauna in the undisturbed places.
Within 3 km there is the Lac de Lastioulles noted for its nautical sailing school and water sports and Lac Crégut noted for its trout fishing. Lac de Lastioulles is the ideal place to relax and unwind during the summer months, the water is ideal for swimming and the banks are a great place to enjoy a picnic with the stunning mountain backdrop.
Throughout the region can be found the 'AOC Routes Des Fromages', the cheese roads, where one can discover the farms, which make and sell the renowned cheeses, St. Nectaire, Cantal, Forme d’Ambert and other unknown gourmet delights.
Markets abound selling their home produce including cheese, honey, sausages and salamis, vegetables and much much more can be found each day in one of our local towns.

Latitude: 45º 24' 40" North
Longitude: 2º 37' 39" East
from the South: A75, exit 6. Go through Plauzat, Champeix (D978) and Besse-en-Chandesse. At Besse: follow Condat for ± 7 km, then turn right for Picherande (D203) for a few kilometres and at Chomeille turn left towards Saint-Genès (D614). At Saint-Genès: head for Bort-les-Orgues. At La Crégut, follow Bort-les-Orgues/Champs-sur-Tarentaine; in about 3 km, bear right towards Marchal (D622). On entering in Marchal, turn left on D622 (heading for Lanobre). In 100m turn right into 'La Fromental' over the hill and continue for another 150m to the house.
from Corrèze (Ussel): at Bort-les-Orgues, pass the dam, follow Clermont-Ferrand. Go through Lanobre. In 4 km, 100 from an information kiosk (on the left), take the D622 on the right, towards Marchal. Follow this road for 8km. Go over a mini-crossing, still following Marchal, then in 3.5km on the left turn for La Fromental 100m before you enter Marchal, over the hill and continue for another 150m to the house.
from Clermont-Ferrand: take the N89 towards Bordeaux. About 10 km after Massagettes, turn right towards Bort-les-Orgues (D922). Go through Rochefort-en-Montagne, Laqueuille, Tauves, Larrodde. On entering the Department of Cantal, 100 m after the information kiosk (on the right): turn left towards Marchal (D622). Follow this road for 8 km. Go over a mini-crossing, still following Marchal, then in 3.5km on the left turn for La Fromental 100m before you enter Marchal, over the hill and continue for another 150m to the house.
