La Gringoriere is situated 1 km from the market town of Carrouges on 13 acres of land with 3 lakes. Facilities include a Dining/Conservatory Room with seating area, grassed Play Area and Games Room. The lakes are stocked with a variety of fish and are also great for playing and swimming. The largest (around 1.5 acres) has a large shallow area for young children to use.
The Bed-and-Breakfast accommodation consists of four south facing comfortable centrally heated bedrooms. One double, two twin rooms, and one family room (1xdouble bed, 2xsingle beds and space for cot). Shared washing facilities include one bathroom, one shower room and three separate toilets. Linen and towels provided. Gites to sleep 4 or 6 people also available.

Attractions

Carrouges: This small market town is only a 10 minute walk away and has many shops including 2 supermarkets, 2 bakers, delicatessen, butcher, post office, newsagent, and pharmacy. There are also 2 hotels each with its own restaurant and bar, 2 café bars and 3 further restaurants offering crepes, pizzas and traditional french cuisine. On Wednesday morning not to be missed is the market where products from the local area can be purchased.

Carrouges Chateau: 14th-16th Century red brick Chateau surrounded by a moat, magnificent gatehouse and grounds containing a splendid collection of apple and pear trees. Not to be missed is tour of the interior, entered by a drawbridge and famous for its sumptious furnishings, décor and paintings. Each summer the Chateau hosts a spectacular three-day Hunting and Fishing Festival, highly recommended for a weekend out.

Maison du Parc: A visitors centre for the Parc Regional Normandie-Maine, housed in a restored chapter-house. The centre has information about flora and fauna, walking, cycling and horse-riding.

Cider Farm: Family run business where you can sample the cider and see how it is produced.

Real Ale Brewery: English run brewery at Joue-du-Bois is well worth a visit to sample the distinctive beers.

Fishing: As well as our own lakes there are many others in the area, these can be fished with prior arrangement and a fishing day pass.
