Our Bed and Breakfast rooms are almost uniquely located in a handsomely restored 18th century rustic farmhouse, picturesquely set on the banks of the famous Canal du Midi, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996. Conveniently located only a few kilometres from the medieval 'La Cite' of Carcassonne. The farmhouse has been restored with 21st century comforts in mind, creating a welcoming home from home, whilst retaining much of its French country charm with stone features, wooden beams and rafters.
Both bedrooms have been decorated in a french country style, offering king sized beds with your comfort in mind. The private shower and toilet facilities are located on the same floor, just outside your bedroom.
The farmhouse is in fact situated on the Domaine de Millepetit a small working vineyard and farm dating back to the 12th century. A few friendly families also live on this small estate and depending on the time of year you will also find seasonal workers resident here. During the summer months the farm may be a little livelier with farming activity and vehicles…an ideal opportunity to sample rural life in the Languedoc-Roussillon. Apart from wine and olives, the farm also produces a variety of fruit and vegetables.
We are in close proximity to both the sea and mountains so you can easily fully explore this unusual region of Southern France… all year round, whether for cultural pursuits, the history of the Cathars, enjoying Mediterranean beaches 60 km away or just to take pleasure in tastings at any of the many wine Domaines of the region. The area is also ideal for sporting enthusiasts: we are only a few minutes walk from the River Aude and the Canal du Midi for fishing, golfers can enjoy the Carcassonne golf course, cyclists and hikers are catered for with 245 km of flat canal towpaths to explore…and later in the season, for those of you who enjoy skiing, the nearest ski stations are only 70 km from us at Ax-Les-Thermes.
We can also provide an optional breakfast consisting of warm croissants with home made jam, tea or coffee plus a glass of fresh orange juice at a cost of 5 euros per person.'
